Handmade Dance Shoes

Craftsmanship, tradition and soul in every pair

At Menkes, master shoemakers since 1950, we pour our passion, precision and expertise into every pair of handmade dance shoes, crafted to enhance your stage presence.

Each model is designed to complement your costume* and, above all, to protect your foot health, ensuring optimal comfort, freedom of movement, and injury prevention—even during long rehearsals or demanding performances.

With over 70 years of experience, our mission remains clear: to support artists with exceptional quality and custom dance shoes designed for both beauty and performance.

Because our shoes are made to order, the production time is approximately 45 working days from the moment your order enters our workshop.

And if your costume isn’t ready yet, we can help you design it—because at Menkes, we believe the stage is a universe where every detail matters.

Size & width

Our dance shoes are made using European (EU) sizes. We recommend choosing the same size you usually wear in shoes with the same heel height.

At Menkes, we also offer three different width options to ensure a fit that is as precise as it is comfortable:

  • A – Narrow feet
  • B – Standard width (most common)
  • C – Wide feet

Choosing the right size and width is essential to guarantee comfort, balance, and performance on stage.

Heels

The heel plays a key role in the comfort, stability, and aesthetic of a dance shoe.

It not only boosts your confidence on stage but also defines the style and silhouette of the shoe.
We offer a variety of heel heights and shapes to meet the specific needs of each performance.

Whether you’re looking for elegance, harmony, or meeting artistic demands, every detail is carefully designed to enhance your performance.

Plataforms

At Menkes, we know that every artist is different. That’s why we offer four platform options, allowing you to tailor your dance shoes to your needs:

  • No platform – a classic, grounded look with close contact to the floor.
  • 1 cm interior platform – discreet platform without altering the shoe’s silhouette.
  • 1 cm exterior platform – enhanced comfort with subtle visual lift.
  • 2 cm exterior platform – greater height and presence, with excellent stability.

💡 All platform options are available on our models so you can choose the one that suits you best.

Sole & philis

The right combination of sole and philis (Half non-slip sole) is essential for your performance, safety and the durability of your dance shoes. At Menkes, you can select from several options to match your floor type and dance discipline.

Sole options:

  • Leather sole: classic and elegant; ideal for smooth stage floors and professional use.
  • Suede sole: provides better grip, especially on slippery or polished surfaces.

Philis options:

  • Rubber philis: offers enhanced grip and protection. Recommended for extra stage security.
  • Suede philis: the perfect balance between glide and control – ideal for smooth movements and quick pivots.

💡 You can combine the sole and philis that best suit your needs.

Buckle

The closure system is key to comfort, fit, and speed when getting ready to step on stage.

We offer two types of buckles, both designed for durability and intensive use:

  • Standard buckle: the classic metal fastening, reliable and easy to adjust.
  • Quick-release buckle: same classic design with a practical fastening system that makes it easy to slip the shoe on and off — without compromising on safety or style.

Orquin Reinforcement

The orquin is a small, metal piece inserted between the sole and the heel to reinforce the heel structure.

Its purpose is to strengthen a key area of the shoe, improving stability, durability, and overall support.

When is it recommended?

Is essential for performers who use their shoes intensively, especially in professional settings where wear and tear is greater.

It is also recommended for uneven floors or stages with stairs, as it helps prevent the heel from catching or collapsing.
